Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program Brochure
The County of El Dorado’s Housing Rehabilitation Loan Program is designed to assist low income families with home repairs to correct health and safety issues or to meet code compliance standards. These loans are available to homeowners in the unincorporated areas of the County. Funding is provided through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, the County's revolving loan fund and the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program.
Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements:
The loan program includes:
- Interest rates as low as 3% for up to 15 years
- Loan amounts up to $40,000 (CDBG) or subsidy limits (HOME)
- Low interest loans up to $40,000
- Loan repayment may be reduced or deferred depending on an applicant’s ability to pay
- Loans may be used to weatherize homes, repair and replace roofs and foundations, upgrade plumbing and electrical systems, eliminate termite problems, replace heating/air conditioning units, replace siding, and more
This program is designed as a gap financing program for applicants that would not qualify for a bank loan due to limited resources/income. Loans are available to eligible applicants on a first-come first-served basis while funding lasts.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program can also provide loans to rental property owners who rent to income qualified families in the unincorporated areas of the County.
