Rembering District III Supervisor Carl Borelli 

image of Carl Borelli Sand Scupture at the FairEl Dorado County is saddened by the recent loss of District III Supervisor Carl Borelli. Supervisor Borelli passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2003 after a short illness.

Carl Borelli, a first generation American and native Californian was born and raised in Berkeley. Carl proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Placerville in 1959 and soon established Vesuvio’s Pizzeria and Fish Grotto. For over twenty years Mr. Borelli and his family ran this successful business.

Carl Borelli was elected to the Placerville City Council in 1974 serving an unprecedented twenty four years as a city councilman; six years as mayor. In 2000, Carl was elected by the citizens of El Dorado County’s District III as their representative on the Board of Supervisors. Supervisor Borelli’s first term of office began in January 2001.

image of Board of Supervisors 2001Supervisor Borelli believed that “people in politics should be judged by their actions, not by their words.” An open door policy was practiced by the District III Supervisor; citizens were welcome to call, stop by the office, or make an appointment: Helping  people, that’s what Carl was all about.
