"Reframing Aging in El Dorado County"
Training Event Scheduled for June 29, 2018
(Placerville, CA) - El Dorado County leaders and community agencies who serve older adults are invited to attend "Reframing Aging in El Dorado," an interactive training event. The event is focused on communication and aging, including the impact of our communication and how effective communication about age-related issues can improve the way older adults in our community are perceived and served. The free training will be held on June 29, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community Services District located at 2502 Country Club Drive in Cameron Park.
"Reframing Aging in El Dorado County" will feature national keynote speaker Krista Brown, and evidence based information and strategies in an interactive format. Ms. Brown is the Director of Education for the American Society on Aging and a Reframing Aging Master Trainer with the Frameworks Institute.
"Across the nation, the population of older adults is growing," said Laura Walny, Program Manager with the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA). "Studies show that older adults are not only living longer, but staying active longer. Many adults over the age of 60 have a strong social network; they are doing great things in our communities through work, volunteerism and more. The purpose of this local training event is to change the conversation about what it means to be an older adult in our County, to grow in our understanding of aging, and to create a more inclusive and age-friendly society."
The event is hosted by HHSA's Older Adult Services and the Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Project through Adult Protective Services, and in partnership with the El Dorado County Commission on Aging. There is no cost to attend the training. Lunch will be provided by Ponte Palmero, a Retirement Village in Cameron Park, CA.
Space is limited and registration is required. To register for the event or for questions, please send an email to EDAAP@edcgov.us.
