​SENIOR FARMERS' MARKET CHECK BOOKLETS AVAILABLE


(Placerville, CA) - The El Dorado County Area Agency on Aging has a limited supply of Senior Farmers' Market check booklets for qualified El Dorado County older adults. Each eligible senior may receive one booklet. Each booklet includes five checks redeemable for $4 each to be used at Certified Farmers' Markets to purchase fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits, vegetables, cut herbs and raw unprocessed honey. Checks are good at all Certified Farmers' Markets in California.

Farmers' Market check booklets are distributed to older adults who are at least 60 years of age and meet income guidelines (one person household with annual income less than $23,107 or $1,926 per month or two person household with income less than $31,284 or $2,607 per month). The Farmers' Market check booklets will be distributed as follows:

  • Wednesday, July 10, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Burke's Junction Farmers' Market, located at Coach Lane and Strolling Hills Road in Cameron Park
  • Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Farmers' Market, in the American Legion Parking Area, located at 2748 South Lake Tahoe Blvd (Hwy. 50) in South Lake Tahoe
  • Saturday, July 20, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the People's Mountain Market, located at Garden Valley Park, Garden Valley Road and Marshall Road in Garden Valley
  • Wednesday, July 24, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to dusk at the Main Street Farmers' Market, near the Bell Tower, located at 385 Main Street in Placerville

Booklet quantities are limited and distributed on a first come, first served basis. Seniors may designate an individual (proxy) to receive their booklet and make purchases at the Farmers' Market on their behalf. A proxy form must be completed by the eligible senior in advance for the proxy to pick up the booklet.
