Looking for a great volunteer opportunity? The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is currently looking for community volunteers to help at its congregate dining sites. Volunteers are needed in various roles, such as helping in the kitchen, serving meals in the dining room and signing in seniors. "We are very grateful for our dedicated volunteers and appreciate their help in providing this service to the senior members of our communities," said Ruth Green, Coordinator with the Senior Nutrition Program.
The Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious lunchtime meals for people age 60 and older for a suggested donation of $3 per meal at eight congregate meal sites throughout the County, including in Placerville, El Dorado Hills and South Lake Tahoe. The program also offers an important opportunity for seniors to socialize and connect with other seniors, learn about community resources and activities, and more.
According to Green, numerous kitchen assistant volunteers are currently needed from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to help set tables, serve lunch and clean up at one of the following dining site locations: Diamond Springs, El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines, Pioneer Park, Greenwood and Placerville. A Sign-In Desk volunteer is also needed on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the El Dorado Hills meal site.
