El Dorado County Senior Day Programs have openings available for new members at both the Placerville and El Dorado Hills locations. The Senior Day Programs offer a wonderful experience for adults needing supervision and assistance during the day due to health conditions such as Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, or Dementia and memory problems.

“At Senior Day, we provide a safe and stimulating experience for our members, creating an individualized plan to meet their unique needs,” says Nancy Wilson, Program Supervisor for the Placerville Senior Day Program. “This is a great option for families struggling to find appropriate care for their loved one in a safe, caring, and affordable program so that individuals can continue to work during the day or simply get respite time from the difficulties of caring for a family member.”

The Senior Day Programs, located at 990 Lassen Lane in El Dorado Hills, and 935A Spring Street in Placerville, are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with extended hours available. Activities include daily group exercise, art and music, gardening and craft activities, nutritious lunch and snacks, and the socialization so often missing once a loved one loses the ability to care for themselves. Members may attend one to five days a week; transportation is available for most program members.

According to Wilson, the Senior Day Program is a great resource for El Dorado County residents, providing much needed care, activities and supervision for this vulnerable population. “The staff is a professional and caring team, dedicated to providing the best possible experience for program members, while supporting family caregivers with current information, support groups and referrals so they may remain living at home and prevent premature placement in skilled nursing facilities,” said Wilson.

For more information, or to schedule a tour of program facilities, please call (916) 358-3560 in El Dorado Hills or (530) 621-6180 in Placerville. The Senior Day Program is a program of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency.
