Powerful Tools for Caregivers Educational Series Offered

(Placerville, CA) - The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Senior Health Education Program and Family Caregiver Support Program are pleased to present a "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" educational series. This six-week program will be held 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. each Thursday afternoon from March 7 through April 11, 2019, at the Placerville Senior Center located at 937 Spring Street, Placerville. The trainings in the educational series will provide caregivers of older adults with tools and strategies to assist them in handling the unique challenges they face.

The series topics include:

  • March 7, 2019 – Taking Care of You

  • March 14, 2019 – Identifying and Reducing Personal Stress

  • March 21, 2019 – Communicating Feelings, Needs, and Concerns

  • March 28, 2019 – Communicating in Challenging Situations

  • April 4, 2019 – Learning From Our Emotions

  • April 11, 2019 – Mastering Caregiving Decisions

Participants of the educational series are asked to attend all six sessions; certificates of completion will be presented at the end of the series. The training series is comprehensive and evidence based. Respite is available to qualified caregivers; pre-authorization is required for respite services.
