Free Aging and Caregiver Educational Series in January 2018

 

(Placerville, CA) – The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency, Family Caregiver Support Program is pleased to present a free "Aging & Caregiver" educational series in Placerville. The educational series will be held on January 16, 23, and 30, 2017, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Placerville Senior Center located at 937 Spring Street in Placerville. The series will provide instruction and support for people who care for or plan to care for an aging family member or friend. The series topics include the following:

  • January 16, 2018Legal Rights and Responsibilities of Caregiving: How to Stay Out of Trouble: Participants will learn the rights and responsibilities of a healthcare or financial agent. Legal and Ethical duties and decisions will be discussed including other responsibilities associated with the health and well-being of your loved one.
  • January 23, 2018The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease: Participants will learn the difference between Alzheimer's Disease, other dementias and normal memory loss due to aging. Information will also be provided about the Alzheimer's Disease process, and a program offered by the Alzheimer's Association.
  • January 30, 2018Finding the Right Care Setting at the Right Time for Your Loved One: As cognitive and physical abilities decline and become difficult to manage, many families will face the decision about moving a loved one to assisted living or memory care. Participants of this training session will learn about the challenges that families encounter when considering a move, and ways to ease the transition.

The Aging and Caregiver educational series will be presented by local experts in their respected fields. Participates may attend one or all of the classes. The classes are free of charge, although donations are accepted. Light refreshments will be served. The series is offered as an educational opportunity only; no solicitation of services will be presented.
