California Commission on Aging to Visit El Dorado County

(Placerville, CA) - The El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is pleased to announce that the California Commission on Aging will be visiting El Dorado County for a special public meeting focused on services for older adults. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the El Dorado County Government Center, Building A, located at 330 Fair Lane, Placerville, in the downstairs Office of Emergency Services meeting room.

During this special meeting, members of the California Commission on Aging will be on hand to participate in presentations and discussions highlighting local programs, including: Senior Services Programs, Senior Peer Counseling, and an Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse Project. Staff from HHSA, as well as members of the El Dorado County Commission on Aging, plan to be in attendance. Members of the public are welcome to attend any portion of the meeting.

The California Commission on Aging typically holds its meetings quarterly in various locations across the State. Members of the Commission recently expressed interest in visiting El Dorado County because of its rural setting and to learn more about its programs. Established in 1973 as part of the Older Californians Act, the California Commission on Aging is a 25 member body that advises the state's Governor and Legislature, along with federal, state and local agencies, on programs and services that affect older adults. The primary purpose of the commission is to advance issues fundamental to ensuring healthy, purposeful and dignified longevity for all Californians.
