When driving around El Dorado County please be cautious of our litter crews! They risk their safety to keep our county roadways clean and safe!


West Slope Litter Abatement

Environmental Management staff removes an average of 1,200 tons litter and items illegally dumped on County roads, covering over 2,000 miles of road side each year. The Litter Abatement Program keeps County maintained roadways clean and minimizes contamination of stormwater runoff. Litter and illegally dumped items are collected by staff and low-risk inmates from the County Jail. Due to the volume of roadside miles, priority is given to the more heavily used roadways and those where significant accumulations of litter exist.

Approximately 7,000 tons of debris was collected from our County roadways between 2010 and 2015!

South Lake Tahoe Litter Abatement In the Tahoe Basin, litter and illegally dumped items on roadways in the County and City of South Lake Tahoe are picked up by the Clean Tahoe Program staff covering about 350 miles of roadways.

Report Litter or a Roadside Dump We encourage the community to help keep El Dorado County clean. If you see a trash or litter problem, click on the link below for the area of the County where the issue is located to fill out a form & report it to Environmental Management or Clean Tahoe Program staff.
