Mt Murphy Bridge Project Status Update - 2014
Thank you for your continued interest in the Mt. Murphy Road Bridge Project. On April 8, 2014, the County Transportation Division, along with their engineering consultant, CH2MHill, hosted the first of three Community Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) Meetings. The SAC representative is responsible to represent their group’s ideas and perspectives on the project while relaying information from each SAC meeting out to the members of their organization or group and then bringing feedback to the next SAC meeting. The entire process is explained within the presentation to the SAC provided on the two links below.
On February 11, 2014, Transportation Staff presented the results of Phase 1A with the conclusion that rehabilitating the existing bridge for vehicle traffic was not feasible under the Highway Bridge Program. The Board subsequently directed Transportation Staff to proceed with Phase B. Transportation and CH2MHill are proceeding with Phase1B to prepare the Alternative Analysis Report. This phase will consist of additional public outreach that includes the formation of a Stakeholder’s Committee and subsequent public meetings, all to occur in the next several months. The project Alternative development phase will identify and screen feasible, innovative, cost effective and fundable design alternatives. The goal of the Alternatives Analysis Report is to refine these alternatives down to three alternatives to be carried forward for further engineering refinement in the next phase of work. The following attachments are provided for further information:
On April 23, 2013, the Board of Supervisors approved consultant AGMT 13-53658 with CH2MHill to prepare an Alternative Analysis Report for the Project in two phases, Phase 1A and Phase 1B. The intent of Phase 1A was to provide early alternative screening specifically intended to address the feasibility of rehabilitating the existing bridge prior to any other alternative analyses.
