Anyone looking to adopt a cat right now may want to quickly head to the El Dorado County Animal Services shelter facility in Diamond Springs where a select number of cats can be adopted for no fee at all. "Thanks to the kindness of an unnamed donor, the fee has already been paid to adopt some of the cats at our Diamond Springs shelter," said Henry Brzezinski, Chief of Animal Services. According to Brzezinski, there are lots of cats and kittens of various breeds currently at the shelter awaiting loving homes.

The regular adoption fee for cats and kittens is $80. The adoption fee includes all required first shots, medical exam, spay or neuter, and microchip for the cat or kitten. Most of the cats and kittens are also litterbox trained and socialized.

The shelter is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and located at 6435 Capitol Avenue in Diamond Springs. For more information, please visit Animal Services' website at or call (530) 621-7631.
