El Dorado County health officials are offering tips to stay cool and healthy during the coming summer months. "When temperatures rise, it's important to take precautions to protect yourself, your family and others," said Kristine Oase Guth, Program Manager in the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency.
The potential for heat waves occurs each summer and, according to Guth, these heat waves can be extremely dangerous, particularly for the elderly, very young and people with chronic medical conditions. Residents without adequate air conditioning may also have heat-related problems if they aren't careful. "If your home doesn't have good air conditioning, find a relative or other place in the community such as a public building or a shopping center where the air conditioning is working," said Guth.
