Parks News & Updates

We are in the process of updating our website. Much of the content that was available on this page can be found by accessing the Parks, Trails, and River Management Menu, near the upper left corner of this page.

  • Please be careful and aware that snakes have been spotted at Pioneer Park on the disc golf course, some of them have been rattlesnakes.  We are working to get the weeds cut as soon as possible.

  • Come experience the Rubicon Challenge at the El Dorado County Fair. View the event flyer for details and event registration.

  • The El Dorado Trail at Weber Creek Bridge is now back open.

  • A Notice of Preparation for the Diamond Springs Community Park Project, and the corresponding Initial Study, have been posted to our Upcoming Projects page.

  • Please be advised that current conditions on the Rubicon Trail are not ideal. For more information review the advisement for the Rubicon Trail May 17, 2023.

  • The pear trees at Pioneer Park are showing signs of decay and will be evaluated for diseases. Based on this evaluation, some of the trees may have to be removed.
  • Winter Storms and Excessive Snow Melt = Cold and Fast Water Dangers! Picture1.jpg

Near record snow levels will increase high water dangers. El Dorado County has had 70.25 inches of precipitation this year. That is about 152% of the County average. With warmer temperatures come increased snow melts.

We urge boaters, paddlers, rafters and other river users to take extra precautions and to be aware of cold-water dangers this spring to avoid a tragedy.

The Division of Boating and Waterways has information on how to prepare for these cold and fast water dangers. You can learn more by accessing that information here:  Winter & Spring Storm Boating and Marina Safety (ca.gov)

  • El Dorado Trail/SPTC at Latrobe Road is closed due to a washout of the railroad tracks near the Latrobe Bridge and mudslides on the corridor.

  • Please read the attached Public Notice here on Grant Funding for the Rubicon Trail.

  • Henningsen Lotus Park 2023 Parking Passes are available for purchase at the Chief Administrative Office, 330 Fair Lane, Bldg. A, Placerville, CA 95667, the Parks & Trails Office, 200 Armory Drive, Placerville, CA 95667, or directly from Henningsen Lotus Park. We can only accept cash or check.

  • The Master Plan community outreach meeting summaries will be posted on this page, as they become available.
