The Mental Health Division of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency has a new home in South Lake Tahoe and a new telephone number. The Mental Health Division, previously located on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe, was recently moved to the El Dorado County Government Center, 1360 Johnson Boulevard, Suite 103, in South Lake Tahoe. Staff will share space with the Public Health Division. Their new telephone number is (530) 573-7970.
“The new location provides a great opportunity to collaborate with the staff of Public Health and more comprehensively serve the residents of our community,” said Sally Williams, Mental Health Program Coordinator. “The move is also helpful in terms of reducing our facility costs.”
In addition to the Johnson Boulevard facility, Mental Health Division staff will operate an afternoon program several times each week, called The Wellness Center, at the Senior Center located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe. “The Wellness Center will provide a positive, recovery-focused environment for adults, and include a combination of supervised group activities and skill building exercises,” said Williams.
The Mental Health Division partners with the Tahoe community to address mental health needs and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness. The Mental Health Division also operates a 24-hour mental health crisis line for people experiencing emotional distress, conducts community education and prevention programs, and offers a range of mental health treatment services for people with severe emotional needs. Mental Health Division staff members can be reached at their new telephone number (530) 573-7970. The Mental Health Crisis Line in South Lake Tahoe can be reached at (530) 544-2219.
