A Free Daily Telephone Reassurance Service

Being alone is one of the greatest fears older adults have as they age. The YANA Program is designed to help older adults remain independent in their homes by providing a daily telephone safety check-in call.

Serving El Dorado County residents age 60 years and older for over 17 years, the YANA Program provides FREE daily check in calls to individuals living alone or for couples who just need a daily check-in call. The YANA Program also provides information and support and can connect participants with necessary services in order to help the person remain independent in their homes for as long as possible.

YANA Program Goals:

  • Promotes safety
  • Decreases isolation
  • Provides socialization
  • Deceases loneliness

How It Works

  • Calls are made daily, between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
  • If the participant does not answer the phone after 3 attempts, family, friends and/or neighbors are contacted and asked to check on them.
  • If a participant does not answer the phone after several attempts are made to reach them, a series of steps follow to assure their safety and well-being.
  • When the above attempts fail and contact with participant cannot be made, local Law Enforcement is called to check on the participants well-being.
