El Dorado County Senior Day Care Services is now accepting new members for both of its sites in Placerville and El Dorado Hills. The centers offer quality care and activities for adults needing supervision during the day. “This is a great service for people struggling to find quality and affordable care for an aging parent or adult loved one with a chronic health condition such as Parkinson’s disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia,” said Wanda Demarest, Program Supervisor for the Placerville Senior Day Care Center.
The Senior Day Care Centers, located at 990 Lassen Lane in El Dorado Hills and 935A Spring Street in Placerville, are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Activities at the centers include daily group exercise classes, crafts, modified sports, guest speakers, live music and field trips. Meals are included. Transportation can be arranged through program staff. Supportive services, education and referral services are also available for members and their families. Fees for the centers range from $45 to $58 per day.
According to Demarest, Senior Day Care Services has successfully served residents in El Dorado County for over 25 years. “We focus on treating all members with respect and care, while also emphasizing a positive self-image and the possibility of improvement through continued stimulation of body, mind and spirit,” said Demarest. Over the years, the program has often had long waiting lists to get in. The program has helped many working adults stay employed because they did not have to worry about the care of their loved one, added Demarest.
