CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work
Welfare-to-Work is the employment and training component of the CalWORKs program. It helps people receiving cash assistance to secure employment with the goal of self-sufficiency. Through ongoing case management, people are assisted to reduce barriers to employment. The Welfare-to-Work program coordinates with other agencies for the benefit of families. Welfare to Work program services include:
- Case management
- Assessment of skills and education
- Job readiness workshops
- Assisted job search
- Work experience placement

Supportive services in the Welfare-to-Work program are subject to pre-approval based on assigned activities and need. Supportive services may include help or referral for:
- Transportation
- Childcare
- Substance abuse
- Mental health
- Domestic violence
- Learning disability
- Educational activities
A variety of services are also available for up to 12 months to help people keep their jobs once they have gone off of CalWORKs cash assistance.
