Housing, Community and Economic Development Programs

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM

The Economic Development Block Grant Program provides loans and technical assistance to small businesses throughout the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County. The primary purpose of this program is to create new jobs or preserve existing jobs in El Dorado County by providing loans and technical assistance to business start-ups or existing businesses looking to expand.

Funds for this program are provided through a Community Development Block Grant obtained from the Department of Housing and Community Development and the County’s revolving loan fund. Specific guidelines must be met to qualify for this program.

Business Loan Program

The County of El Dorado’s Business Assistance Loan Program (BLP) is designed to provide the critical and necessary capital needs for business and real estate projects within the County.

Microenterprise Assistance Program

The Microenterprise Technical Assistance Program is designed to encourage entrepreneurship and provide economic benefit to potential new local business owners and existing Microenterprise business owners. The business must be a microenterprise, which is defined as a business that has five or fewer employees, one or more of whom owns the enterprise. The effort is to assist the low to moderate income community. The program will provide training, technical assistance, and advisory services for enterprise development throughout the County. The program is an innovative entrepreneurial development strategy focused on generating quality jobs in the community. 

Financing by the County’s Loan Programs are subject to availability of funds.
