Election Officers / Polling Places Needed 


Every election El Dorado County Election Officers make sure polling place operations run smoothly and elections are carried out fairly, honestly and accurately. Election officers are responsible for supervising the conduct inside polling places and helping voters.


Election Officers Eligibility

To be eligible to serve as an election officer, you must be:

A U.S. citizen
18 years of age
A registered voter in the State of California
Able to serve from 6:00 a.m. until approximately 9:30 p.m. when all closing duties are complete
Able to speak, read and write English
Understand and be capable of performing the duties of an election officer


Election Officers Responsibilities

Election officers have may responsibilities and perform several tasks on Election Day, including:

Opening the polling place at 7:00 a.m. sharp and closing it at 8:00 p.m.
Setting up election equipment
Providing assistance to voters
Signing in voters
Verifying voter qualifications
Distributing ballots
Activating cards for touch screen machines
Operating voting equipment
Filling out forms

Election Officers Reimbursements

INSPECTORS: $120.00
Must attend training class

CLERK: $95.00
Must attend training class

Student Officer Program Qualifications

16 years of age
Grade point average 2.5
Must have permission of parents/guardians and government teacher

                                              Polling Places

El Dorado County is always looking for ADA ( Americans with Disabilities Act ) accessible polling places. If you have, or know of a facility or business that is accessible to the disabled community and would like to host an election please call us. If you are unsure if your facility or business is accessible, call our office and schedule to have our polling place accessibility team come out and measure your facility or business.
