On Friday, August 26, 2016, a coordinated Office of Traffic Safety warrant sweep involving the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, the El Dorado County Probation Department, and the Placerville Police Department resulted in the arrest of four subjects wanted on warrants for driving under the influence.
These warrant sweeps work in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office vertical prosecution unit and the OTS Grant which pays for a vertically assigned Deputy District Attorney and District Attorney Investigator, allowing them to be involved in a more integrated way with the street level enforcement and investigation side of DUI investigations.
Prevention of drunk driving requires a two pronged call to action - effective law enforcement investigation and prosecution and public involvement and awareness of the problem.
