District Attorney Vern Pierson announces the felony conviction of Roy Dale Todd
for continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14, occurring between December 6,
1997, and December 5, 2003.
The nine men, three women jury heard testimony and evaluated evidence over two
and a half days and deliberated for approximately 46 minutes until they rendered the
guilty verdict on all counts. Defendant was convicted of continuous sexual abuse and
possession of child pornography. The jury also found true the special allegation of
substantial sexual conduct. Defendant admitted to two prior convictions from 1985 for
lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 which constitute strike offenses.
District Attorney Vern Pierson commented, “The successful prosecution of a dangerous
sexual predator is always the product of coordinated teamwork by many professionals. In
particular, however, I commend Deputy District Attorney Jamie Pesce for her tireless
efforts on behalf of the People of the State of California.”
Todd is due to be sentenced by the Honorable James R. Wagoner in Department 1
of the El Dorado County Superior Court on February 26, 2016.
