District Attorney Vern Pierson announces the felony conviction of Paul Lee Moreau for assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury.

On May 18, 2016, an El Dorado County jury made up of eight men and four women convicted Paul Lee Moreau of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, and also found true that Mr. Moreau had been previously convicted of a strike offense and a prior prison commitment.  The jury deliberated for four hours after hearing testimony from the victim, Roger Lanzini, his brother Brian Lanzini, Dr. Alexis Leiser from Marshall Medical Center, and Detective Rich Horn.  The case was investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ashley Colivas.

After the verdicts, the Honorable Kenneth Melikian remanded the defendant into the El Dorado County jail with no bail pending the sentencing hearing on June 6, 2016. The defendant faces a maximum of twelve years in state prison.
