District Attorney Vern Pierson announces the felony
conviction of Paul Lee Moreau for assault with a deadly weapon
causing great bodily injury.
On May 18, 2016, an El Dorado County jury made up of
eight men and four women convicted Paul Lee Moreau of assault
with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, and also found true that Mr.
Moreau had been previously convicted of a strike offense and a prior prison
commitment. The jury deliberated for four hours after hearing
testimony from the victim, Roger Lanzini, his brother Brian Lanzini, Dr. Alexis
Leiser from Marshall Medical Center, and Detective Rich Horn. The case
was investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office and prosecuted
by Deputy District Attorney Ashley Colivas.
After the verdicts, the Honorable Kenneth
Melikian remanded the defendant into the El Dorado County jail with no
bail pending the sentencing hearing on June 6, 2016. The defendant faces a
maximum of twelve years in state prison.
