District Attorney Vern Pierson announces the felony conviction of Martin Richard Urjevich for Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On June 9, 2016, an El Dorado County jury made up of three men and nine women convicted Martin Richard Urjevich of Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The jury deliberated for less than thirty minutes after hearing testimony from Deputy Alonso Aguilar, Detective Kyle Parker, Boyd Lasater of the Department of Justice, and Deputy District Attorney Worth Dikeman.  The case was investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.

The Defendant's criminal history includes five felony convictions for Marijuana Cultivation, Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale, Transportation of Methamphetamine, Evading a Police Officer, and Possession of a Stun Gun by a Felon.  The Defendant has been to prison twice previously and violated his parole at least six times (not including additional probation violations over the years).  The People argued for the Defendant to be sentenced to three years in state prison.  However, the Court granted five years felony probation and one year in the county jail.
