El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson and AT&T Wireless jointly announce that AT&T’s Car Simulator in which drivers can safely experience the dangers of texting while driving will be at Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs on Thursday, February 14, 2013, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The District Attorney’s Office and AT&T hope that these types of educational events will raise the awareness of young drivers about the dangers of driving. El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson stated that, “By educating young drivers on the dangers of texting while driving, as well as the extreme danger of drinking and driving, we hope to save lives and make the roads a little safer.”

The simulator allows drivers to safely replicate the life-altering effects of texting while driving. It is part of AT&T’s aggressive national “It Can Wait” campaign encouraging everyone to take the No Texting and Driving pledge. More than 1.2 million people – and counting – have pledged never to text and drive as a result of AT&T’s “It Can Wait” campaign.

Drivers can learn more about the It Can Wait campaign and download the AT&T DriveMode mobile app that curbs the urge to text and drive at www.itcanwait.com
