El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson and El Dorado County Child Support Services Director Laura Roth announce the arrest of 58 year old Martin Seebach on October 29th, 2012. Mr. Seebach is charged in a criminal complaint with two felony charges of grand theft against his now adult children. He is also charged with four misdemeanor counts of disobeying a court order, for failing to pay the court ordered monthly amounts towards his child support arrears. The Defendant is being held in custody with a $200,000 bail and his arraignment is scheduled for October 30, 2012 in Department 7.
The Defendant, as a result of a divorce action, was ordered to pay child support for his then three minor children. The action originated in Sacramento County in 1993, and was transferred to El Dorado County in 1996. Over the last 21 years, Mr. Seebach has failed to comply with his court ordered obligations and currently has the highest arrears balance in the County which totals over $600,000.
The El Dorado District Attorney’s office has previously filed criminal complaints against Mr. Seebach for his failures in 2000 and 2002. All previous attempts to get the Defendant to work and pay his child support have been unsuccessful. The arrest of Mr. Seebach will hopefully set an example to others out there who are failing to pay their child support and arrears which may be owed for past child support.
