Welcome Military Service Members. We want to help you with your child support questions or concerns. We encourage you to read this page for additional information that may assist you. The Judge Advocate Legal Division, Legal Assistance Branch, USMC provides very comprehensive links to information of interest to everyone connected with or interested in our Military forces with regards to a variety of legal issues, including Child Support and Medical Support. Most information provided here applies to all branches of the armed forces.

US Army Regulation 608-99 is a detailed description of Family Support, Child Custody, and Paternity issues that all active duty and reserve US Army Soldiers are subject to. Family members not receiving the required support may contact the Inspector General using the toll free number:
Child Support - BAH-DIFF You may be entitled to receive some housing allowance even if you are single and living in the barracks if you are paying Child Support.

On December 19, 2003, President Bush signed
HR 100 - Service Members Civil Relief Act, aka SCRA, which is an expansion of and replacement for the SSCRA. The Judge Advocate Legal Division, USMC, has provided a "Primer" under JAL Advisory 13 and explains what this act means to you...this information applies to all members of the Armed forces.
All members of the armed forces are covered by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Act of 1994, aka USERRA. This act provides specific and strict Federal rules regarding reemployment of service members. You have the right to be reemployed in your civilian job if you leave that job to perform service in the uniformed service, and:
You ensure that your employer receives advance written or verbal notice of your service;
You have five years or less of cumulative service in the uniformed services while with that particular employer;
You return to work or apply for reemployment in a timely manner after conclusion of service; and
You have not been separated from service with a disqualifying discharge or under other than honorable conditions.
If you are eligible to be reemployed, you must be restored to the job and benefits you would have attained if you had not been absent due to military service or, in some cases, a comparable job. The U.S. Department of Labor, Veterans Employment and Training Service (VETS) is authorized to investigate and resolve complaints of USERRA violations. Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve was established in 1972 to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee's military commitment. It is the lead DoD organization for this mission under DoD Directive 1250.1.
