WESTERN EL DORADO COUNTY

‚ÄčCOMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN (CWPP)

Project Overview:

El Dorado County is updating the Western El Dorado Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP).

What is a CWPP?

A CWPP is a community-based plan focused on identifying and addressing local hazards and risks from wildfire. It determines what is at risk and provides a road map of actions for a community to address the wildfire threat.

Why is the CWPP Important?

A CWPP identifies projects and activities needed to protect communities from the risk of wildfire and provides a framework for local communities, organizations, and agencies to take action. It is a valuable tool to assist with setting priorities and securing critical wildfire mitigation funding.

Project Schedule:

The update is anticipated to begin in April 2024 and will take approximately 12 months to complete.

How Can I Participate?

The foundation of the CWPP is based upon community participation and stakeholder engagement. A series of public workshops will be held throughout El Dorado County during the planning process and interested members of the public, fire safe councils, agencies and organizations are encouraged to attend and participate.

Where Can I Get More Information?

Information regarding workshops and how to participate in the process will be available on this webpage.  Please check back for updates.

The current CWPP can be found here.

The CWPP for the Tahoe Basin is currently under revision, and updates can be found here.
