Placerville, CA – On Tuesday June 28, 2016 a fire known as the “Trailhead Fire” started on the border of El Dorado County and Placer County near the Middle Fork of the American River and West of the community of Volcanoville. The trailhead fire is actively burning. The El Dorado County Sheriff’s office is responding and coordinating efforts with fire responders.

To help residents and concerned callers get up-to-date information on the fire, including current road closures and evacuation areas, the County has established a hotline with staff actively taking calls. The hotline is available at 530.642.7263. This phone number will be staffed from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday until the fire has been contained (including the holiday on Monday July 4).
