El Dorado County Supervisor Michael Ranalli is seeking applicants for the District IV Planning Commissioner. The current District IV Planning Commissioner, Dave Pratt, submitted his resignation to Supervisor Ranalli on Friday, January 8, 2016, resulting in a vacancy effective on Mr. Pratt's last day of Friday, January 15, 2016 . "I appreciate Dave's commitment to our County and his many years of dedicated service on the Planning Commission and the Ag Commission," said District IV Supervisor Michael Ranalli.
The Planning Commission is the Board of Supervisors advisor on land use planning. The Commission reviews matters related to planning and development, including specific plans, rezoning, use permits and subdivisions . Guided by the provisions within the County Code, the Commission makes recommendations to the full Board of Supervisors regarding land use proposals.
In order to maintain a strong representation on the Planning Commission for the Fourth District, Supervisor Ranalli seeks to recommend an appointee to the Board of Supervisors before the January 28 , 2016 , regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting.
"There are a variety of District IV residents who possess not only the genuine interest in local land use and planning but also the ability to evaluate the merits and impacts of individual proposals," Ranalli said. "I am confident that I will have the opportunity to consider several qualified individuals in preparation for this appointment. "

County Ordinance Code Section 2.20.600 provides that, 'The County Planning Commission shall consist of five members, one to be selected by each member of the Board of Supervisors. The appointees should reside within the supervisorial district of the supervisor who selects them, shall reside within the County, shall be registered voters of the County, and shall not be County officers at time of their appointment. "
