El Dorado County will be Performing Annual Bridge Maintenance on Mosquito Bridge July 6 - July 31, 2015 Transportation Division (530) 642-4909 2015-06-22 Community Development Agency

The El Dorado County Community Development Agency, Transportation Division, has selected the following schedule for the annual Mosquito Bridge Maintenance beginning Monday July 6th,2015. Dates are as follows:

  • Full 24 hour closure starting Monday July 6th 2015 at 7:00 AM – Friday July 24th 2015 at 4:00 PM
  • Daily closures starting Monday July 27th – July 31st 2015 from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

The Historic Mosquito Bridge over the South Fork of the American River north of Placerville was built in 1867. It will be closed to all traffic during the full 24 hour closure period. It is anticipated the work will begin at approximately 7:00 AM on July 6th. The County Bridge Crew will be replacing the main support timbers (10”x18”x18’) and replacing the railing timbers (6”x8”x24’).  Project dates are estimates based on favorable weather conditions. Motorists will need to use State Highway 193 to Rock Creek Road as a detour. Slower speeds and caution is highly recommended.

Portable changeable message signs will be placed to keep motorists updated on any changes to the timing of the project.
