(South Lake Tahoe, CA) – The Transportation Division of El Dorado County’s Community Development Agency will implement directional closures of Black Bart Avenue and Martin Avenue and full closures of Barbara Avenue as part of the Black Bart, Martin, and Barbara Overlay Project. The closures are currently scheduled for late September and early October.

Barbara Avenue is currently scheduled to be closed to all traffic on September 23 and September 28. During the closures motorists will be detoured to Fountain Avenue.

Directional closures of Black Bart Avenue and Martin Avenue are currently scheduled to be in place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on September 21, 22, 24, 25, and 29.  During these directional closures, motorists will only be allowed to drive in the direction of Pioneer Trail to U.S. 50. Motorists wishing to travel in the direction of U.S. 50 to Pioneer Trail will be required to use either Al Tahoe Boulevard or Elks Club Boulevard.  Additional traffic control with reversing controls may be needed between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. from September 30 through October 7 to complete the project.

These closures are necessary to allow for the safe and efficient construction of the County’s asphalt concrete overlay project on these roads. Detour signs will be posted to guide traffic around the work zones. Motorists are encouraged to utilize the detours or other alternate routes that also bypass the work zones. The dates shown are estimates and are subject to change due to weather or other reasons. Motorists are encouraged to be alert when entering the construction zone and watch for workers and equipment.

Questions regarding the project or these temporary detours may be directed to Daniel Kikkert, the County’s resident engineer for this project, at 530-573-7914 or via email at dan.kikkert@edcgov.us. Project updates will also be available at the Transportation Division Website.
