PUBLIC INVITED TO OBSERVE

ALL PHASES OF MARCH 5, 2024 STATEWIDE PRIMARY ELECTION

Process Begins January 17, 2024


The El Dorado County Election Division invites the public, the media, members of the Grand Jury, political party organizations and anyone interested in the election process to observe all aspects of the March 5, 2024 Statewide Primary Election.  All processing and counting will take place at the El Dorado County Election Division at 3883 Ponderosa Rd, Shingle Springs, Ca 95682.  

 

"We are entering the most critical phases of the Election preparation," announced El Dorado County Registrar of Voters Bill O'Neill. "Those who wish to observe any part of the election process are invited to visit us at our new location to observe the entire election process, including set up and testing of all equipment. Logic and accuracy testing of the vote center and ballot tabulation equipment begins Wednesday January 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.  Vote-by-mail ballot processing will begin Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m.  Counting of ballots will begin Monday, February 19, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. and continue through certification of the election.   Results from processed vote-by-mail ballots are available shortly after 8 p.m. on Election Day. 

 

The random draw for the one percent manual tally precincts required under the California Election Code will be conducted Wednesday March 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.   The one percent manual tally will begin on Monday March 18, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. and continue until certification of the election.  Pursuant to California election law, the Registrar of Voters has 30 days after the election to certify the election results.

 

Observers are also welcome at all vote centers and central office during normal hours of operation. Please review the Voter Information Guide or the Election Website for a complete list of locations and hours.


All election activities will be live streamed on the election department website (www.edcgov.us/elections) beginning February 12.
