(PLACERVILLE, CA) -- El Dorado County’s Department of Transportation will be performing
road work requiring a full road closure on String Canyon Road beginning Friday, October 13,
2017 at 5:00 pm. The road is scheduled to reopen at 5:00 am on Monday, October 16, 2017.
During this period, String Canyon Road will be closed to all traffic between Cosumnes Mine
Road and Eagle Hill Road.
Access for local residents, visitors, emergency personnel and law enforcement will be available
via detour on Grizzly Flat Road during the work period. Detour notifications have been posted in
advance of the closure, and will continue through the duration of the closure. This closure is
necessary to ensure motorist and worker safety while the County’s contractor repairs a section of
the roadway and drainage system that was damaged during the storms of January and February
earlier this year.
Please note that a seven-ton weight limit exists on Grizzly Flat Road along the detour route.
Please make necessary arrangements prior to and following the closure, as vehicles
exceeding seven tons in weight are not permitted along the detour route.
UPDATE:
Following the road closure, temporary traffic signals will be installed at either ends of the project
to provide reversing one-way traffic control through the work area on String Canyon Road from
Monday, October 16, 2017 through Friday, November 3, 2017. The temporary signals will
operate 24 hours per day/7 days a week. Motorists are advised to slow down through the work
zone and expect delays. Motorists are also advised to allow extra time when traveling through
the work zone in order to arrive at their destinations on time.
The County sincerely appreciates the cooperation and patience of motorists that use this roadway
and we apologize for any inconvenience as a result of this closure.
For questions regarding this repair and construction, please contact the County’s Transportation
main line at (530) 621-5900.
