DON SEMON NAMED NEW DIRECTOR OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 8, 2019

(PLACERVILLE, CA) – The Board of Supervisors today appointed Don Semon as the County's Director of Health And Human Services Agency, effective February 2, 2019. Semon was previously Director of Child Support Services since 2014.

"We are delighted that someone of Don's caliber and experience will guide the County's various and far-reaching efforts on health and welfare issues to help residents stay healthy and self-sufficient," said Don Ashton, Chief Administrative Officer.

Before joining El Dorado County, Semon spent more than 21 years with the Sacramento County Department of Child Support Services, ten of those years as the Assistant Director.  While there, he was responsible for planning, directing and managing child support service functions including administration, staff services, legal, and management information systems. He oversaw a $32 million budget. Prior to that, he worked for the Sacramento County Probation Department.

As director of El Dorado County's Child Support Services, Semon developed and directed the implementation of goals, objectives, work standards and departmental policies and procedures. He oversaw all efforts of child support and revenue recovery programs for the County.

Additionally, Semon most recently served as President of the Child Support Directors Association of California (CSDA). He was the vice president of CSDA during 2017 and has served on the Board of Directors since 2016.

While Don enjoys being involved with program and policy issues at a statewide level, his true passions are leadership, organizational culture and building relationships.  He believes strongly in transformational leadership and growing the capacity of others. Don is a Sacramento native, having graduated from Jesuit High School in Carmichael. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from California State University, Sacramento. Semon is married to his wife, Celine and they have three daughters, Taylor (23), Samantha (21), and Gabrielle (8).

"I'm looking forward to bringing my experience and passion for leading by example to the extraordinary people of El Dorado County," said Semon. "It's an honor to have the Board's support and I will endeavor to bring the highest level of respect and quality services to those we serve," he added.
