CALTRANS TO BEGIN ROAD WORK AT
CARSON ROAD FOR US 50 CAMINO SAFETY PROJECT
(PLACERVILLE, CA) – In partnership with El Dorado County's Department of Transportation, Caltrans will perform work on Carson Road at the intersection of Carson Court beginning in late October and continuing through April 2021 to construct a new undercrossing. Traffic control and informational message signs will be posted in advance of the construction and will remain throughout the duration of the project.
The west end of Carson Court will be closed for approximately six months and a new east end Carson Court detour road has been installed to access Carson Court parcels and businesses. During this six-month stage of construction, intermittent lane closures will be necessary on Carson Road at this location. The dates of the intermittent lane closures and Carson Court detour are anticipated to be from late October and extend through April 2021.
This project will lower Carson Road by three feet to access the new undercrossing. This construction will require a full closure of Carson Road at this location for approximately six weeks. Traffic control signs will be installed to detour traffic on to US 50 around this Carson Road closure. A full closure of Carson Road is anticipated to take place sometime between December and February.
The project will also require shifting of traffic lanes on US 50 to construct the undercrossing, a new median barrier and shoulder improvements.
Motorists are advised to slow down through the work zone and expect delays during this construction period. Motorists are also advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone in order to arrive at their destinations on time. Businesses located on Carson Road and Carson Court will have continual access and are anticipated to remain open during this time.
The County sincerely appreciates the cooperation and patience of motorists who use this roadway and we apologize for any inconvenience as a result of these closures.
