Change in Office Hours
Due to reductions in staffing the Sheriff's
Office must necessarily adjust regular office hours accordingly. Effective October 12, 2009 hours of operation for public access will be 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the main Sheriff's Office at 300 Fair Lane. We regret any inconvenience created by this adjustment.
File an Online Report
Use the online reporting forms to report crimes or incidents that occurred within the unincorporated areas of  El Dorado County, and when the suspect is unknown. Crimes occurring within the city limits of Placerville or South Lake Tahoe should be reported to the city police departments.

Online Crime Reports may be used for the following types of crimes:

• Annoying Phone Calls • Suspicious Circumstances
• Identity Theft • Theft
• Internet Fraud • Vandalism
• Lost Property • Vehicle Burglary

updated View Activity Logs (Press, Arrest, and Incident Information)
Activity logs are generated daily and include information on selected incidents and arrests. The information is taken from initial Sheriff's Office reports. Not all incidents are selected due to investigative restrictions.

County Jail Inmate Information
View a list of jail inmates who are currently in custody in both the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe facilities. Information displayed includes the following: Name, Sex, Facility, Date Booked, First 5 Charges, Bail Amount, Status, and Arresting Agency. Click the links below to view. Data is updated hourly.

Crime Report Archive (Updated 10/20/09)
View and search a database which contains over 117,000 records of EDSO crime reports from 2001 through 2009. This system is updated quarterly. Search by street , city, date range, or report number.

The Secret Witness Program relies on the anonymous tips of community members. When a citizen or visitor becomes aware of a criminal activity, the individual can make an anonymous phone call to a 24-hour, 7-days a weeks hotline and provide the information. Reward money is drawn from a pot that is funded by donations from local businesses and individuals. <read more>
