These pages provide on-line resources for El Dorado County’s employee and retiree health benefits program.

The program overview provides a quick outline of the program, and allows you to navigate to more detail on any part of the program. Eligibility and Enrollment answers your questions about who is allowed to enroll and when enrollment is permitted. The section on mid-year changes explains what changes are allowed outside of our annual Open Enrollment period (June each year, for coverage changes that take effect July 1).

The FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions is the first place to check if you have a question for us. The chances are good you’re not the first to have your exact question.

On-line documents provide searchable quick reference documents, from brief summaries such as our On-line Employee Benefits Handbook, all the way up to the entire Health Plan Document, for those who really want details.

Need a student status declaration form, a form to add your new spouse to coverage mid-year, or a Kaiser application? See our collection of on-line forms.

Our links take you directly to key resources elsewhere on the web.

Employee Assistance Program

Provided by Managed Health Network (MHN), this program provides County employees help with mental health, substance abuse, and other work / life issues. Click here for on-line information.

Retiree Health Defined Contribution Program

This program helps to cover the cost of health insurance during retirement for eligible employees who qualify based upon length of service with El Dorado County.

However, retiree medical coverage is provided per the terms of the appropriate Memorandum of Understanding for represented employees, or the Salary & Benefits Resolution for non-represented employees.  New employees are not eligible for county contributions towards retiree medical coverage, but may purchase retiree medical coverage at their own cost.  The eligibility cutoff dates for county contributions towards retiree medical varies by bargaining unit.  Please contact Risk Management with any questions concerning eligibility.
