Mission Statement
The Mission of the County Museum is to exhibit and interpret the heritage of the County in a current, accurate, and engaging manner; to be a valuable historical resource to the community through its well-organized research facility, historical exhibits, and educational programs; to collect, document, and preserve artifacts and records significant to the history of El Dorado; County using the highest standards of scholarship and professional museum and archival practices; to provide a rewarding experience for volunteers and enhance the museum's significance to the community.
Mining History Days Saturday, February 25th, 2012 and Saturday, March 31st, 2012, from 10am - 4pm, at the El Dorado County Historical Museum Are you interested in knowing more about the history of mining? Do you want to know the history of a particular mine? The El Dorado County Historical Museum has thousands of digitized mining photographs, a California dredge photo collection, over 2,000 digitized mining folders of information, historical maps showing mining claims and a mining exhibit and artifacts. If you have specific questions about mining history, please call 530-621-5865 and ask for Bill or send an email to museum@edcgov.us before Mining History Days. A donation of $2 per visitor is requested for this special event.
