El Dorado County is located in the Mother Lode area of The Sierras. The county seat, Placerville, is also known as the historic gold mining town of "Old Hangtown".  The County borders the State of Nevada and includes beautiful Lake Tahoe.  The County maintains major offices in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. Residents enjoy outstanding scenic beauty and excellent recreational opportunities including skiing, boating, rafting, camping, etc.
