El Dorado County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Teams were called out for a 50 year old hunter who went missing on January 17, 2012 at approximately 3 pm.  Search and Rescue teams worked throughout the night but did not locate him.

On the morning of the January18th another Search and Rescue callout was conducted and an additional 25 search members arrived at the command post.  Search and Rescue members from the management, foot, OHV, K-9 and mounted teams were deployed into the search area.

At approximately 9 am, one of the deployed foot teams located the missing hunter on the side of the mountain. Unfortunately the missing hunter was found deceased.  Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the location and confirmed the subject’s death.

Sheriff’s detectives and CSI responded to the area and began documenting the death scene.  At this time the circumstances and cause of death is under investigation. 

The victim’s identity is pending coroner’s confirmation.
