US HWY 50 HOV LANES, PHASE I
El Dorado Hills to Bass Lake Grade Project
Traffic Management
Northbound Latrobe Road Lane Closure
One of the northbound left turn lanes on Latrobe Rd onto Hwy 50 will be closed through most of the duration of the construction project in order to have room to build the new bridge foundations and temporarily support the new bridges until they are complete. The remaining 3 lanes will be re-striped during construction as shown and the signal timing modified to accommodate traffic as best as possible. We expect the loss of this lane will result in some additional congestion. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during peak hours, including White Rock Rd / Silva Valley Parkway.
Silva Valley Parkway Height Restriction
There will be a vertical height restriction on Silva Valley Parkway at Hwy 50 (at the Clarksville Bridge) for approximately 3 months to permit construction of the bridge widening. Silva Valley Parkway will be closed at Highway 50 to commercial vehicles and any automobiles over 13-feet in height during this time. Vehicles over 13-feet in height must use alternate routes during this phase of construction. White Rock Road and Silva Valley Parkway will be signed in advance indicating the 13-foot vertical height restriction and the detour route will be signed as well.
Highway 50
The lanes on Hwy 50 will be moved to the right or left (called "lanes shifts") at various times during the project to permit the construction of the roadway and bridges. The current number of lanes will remain open during the project although individual lanes or the entire direction (with detour) may be closed during off-peak times for various types of work. This work includes installing temporary concrete barriers, grinding pavement, setting bridge falsework (temporary supports), and blasting rock.
General Detour & Roadway Closure Information
Other roadway closures and detours will be required during construction. Most, but not all, will occur during nighttime hours (between 10pm and 6am). This website will provide updates on closures and detours and will provide maps of the planned detours. There is also a link to sign up for email notifications of closures and detours for this project. Caltrans has approved detour routes for use during construction. These detours are designed to accommodate all traffic, including large commercial trucks. Local residents driving passenger vehicles may sometimes find it faster and more convenient to use routes other than the signed detours. We recommend that local residents sign up for email notifications for the project, which will keep them informed of roadway closures and detour routes so they can decide if alternate routes are more convenient.
Information will be updated as needed to provide current information about upcoming closures and detours. Keep tuned to this website and/or sign up for email notification for Road Closures below:
