District Attorney Vern Pierson Announces Felony Conviction of Paul Lee Moreau for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Great Bodily Injury
On May 18, 2016, an El Dorado County jury made up of eight men and four women convicted Paul Lee Moreau of assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury, and also found true that Mr. Moreau had been previously convicted of a strike offense and a prior prison commitment.

District Attorney Vern Pierson Announces Conviction of Douglas Carter Ernst for Felony Elder Abuse
District Attorney Vern Pierson announces the felony conviction of Douglas Carter Ernst for Elder Abuse with great bodily injury. In March of 2015, Ernst was living with his mother, 88 year old Louise Ernst, at Louise’s home in El Dorado Hills. Ernst, who was his mother’s caregiver, called 911 on March 15, 2015, requesting help because he could not move her. When paramedics arrived at the home, they discovered an emaciated Louise Ernst unclothed in her bed, which was wet and soiled. The house itself was in a dirty and disheveled condition. Paramedics had to climb over a number of obstacles to access Ms. Ernst as she lay in her bed.

District Attorney Vern Pierson Announces Release of Cold Case Homicide Video of 28 Year Old Debney Lynn Lobanoff
Debney Lynn Lobanoff was last seen by her husband in December of 1981 at their residence in Placerville. Debney Lobanoff and her husband were having marital troubles at the time. Her husband reported that she left the residence with two "biker type" males that were allegedly going to give her a ride to the east coast. At the time of her disappearance, Debney Lobanoff was the 28 year old mother of a young child.
